Divorce Facts in Georgia:
To file for a divorce in the state of Georgia there are certain residency requirements that must be met. You must have lived in the state at least six months. The other party must also be a resident of Georgia. Also, there are 13 grounds for divorce in Georgia.

Divorce Legal Advice on Child Support:
In 2007 Georgia enacted new child support guidelines that consider the income of both parents. Many factors go into this new computation of child support including rules for when one parent does not work, or is underemployed. Factors such as tips, bonuses, overtime and commission must be considered. Other children in the home and other children being supported are also considered.
Other issues considered include who is paying for health insurance for the children involved, expenses for child care, and travel expenses. Types of Divorce recognized in Georgia:
In Georgia, when the court orders a final divorce, it means that the divorce is permanent. Once a divorce is permanent, it is final, meaning both parties can legally remarry. The divorce also terminates all property claims.
In Georgia you can get a divorce if there is no hope that you and your spouse can save the marriage. This is known as "no-fault" divorce. Most divorces are granted on the single ground that the marriage is "irretrievably broken." In these cases, it is not necessary to show any wrongdoing or fault.
An annulment is a declaration by a court that a marriage never existed. Basically, that it was never a valid marriage in the first place. Courts rarely grant an annulment, so this isn’t always the best route if you want to end your marriage.
